The Return of the King Complete Character Description: (including but not limited to: distinguishing marks, height, weight, hair and eye color, clothing worn, etc)Aragorn is a typical Dunedain. Man of the west. Tall, standing at over 6 feet and a slender frame. Even his long, dark hair and grey eyes are typical. Being a Ranger,Aragorn rarely worries of his appearance. His hair is usualy loose, dusting his shoulders or flying in the wind when on horse back. His garments are also not elegant by any means. He wears Elven crafted leather armor for the most part. However for the rare times the Ranger is not wearing his armor he chooses simple clothing such as tunics, leggings and of course an Elven cloak and well worn black leather boots. But for the most part one rarely sees Aragorn out of his armor. Also on his persons, is a few, very important possessions. Like most people of his surroundings and within his group, Aragorn is not without his weapons. The one that means the most to him, a heirloom of his kingdom is his sword. Anduril, the name of this precious heirloom was made from the shards of Narsil. Aragorn is never seen without and is very possessive of this weapon. Another heirloom from his kingdom that is always on his person is the Ring of Barahir. These two heirlooms he is never without. And of course another favorite weapon he has at all times is a bow. The last of the things one can see on Aragorn, is an Elfstone, Elessar given to him as a gift. Personality:Aragorn is a stern, grim and serious man. However he does have an odd sense of humor that comes out at the oddest and most random of times. In the right times, he is willing to tell a story. Aragorn is also a determined and stubborn man. Stopping at nothing to get what needs to be done, done. However though Aragorn would never show it, there are times that his confidence slips and he is not as sure as himself as he lets on. Background:Aragorn II, named after his ancestor Aragorn I is the son of Arathorn II and Gilraen. At the young age of 2, Aragorn's father was killed while pursuing Orcs. Aragorn was too young to remember but after his fathers death, Aragorn was fostered in Rivendell by Elrond. He was not aware until much later in life of his lineage. His mother was afraid that Aragorn would be killed just as his father and grandfather had been if it was discovered that he was the rightful heir to the throne of Isildur, so she gave him to the Elves of Rivendell to raise. He was renamed Estel and his heritage was revealed to him when he came of age in 2951. It was upon Elrond revealing to Aragorn his true heritage and lineage that Aragorn received the precious gifts and heirlooms that he refuses to be without. These are the shards of Elendil's sword, Narsil, and the Ring of Barahir. He withheld the Sceptre of Annúminas from him until he "came of the right" to possess it. It was in this time, that Aragorn was learning of himself truly and deeply that he also met and fell in love with Arwen, daughter of Elrond. Shortly afterwards however, Aragorn left her and did as he was destined and took his place as the Chieftain of the Dúnedain, the Rangers of the North. Living in the wild for several years with the remnants of his people whose lands and villages had been destroyed through wars, he proved a capable leader. He befriended Galdalf the Grey in his travels, and it was his suggestion that Aragorn and the other Rangers began guarding the Shire. He and the older man became best of friends and it was his urging that Aragorn and his followers began to do this. It was inhabited by Hobbits and to the people just outside of the Shire's borders, Aragorn became known as Strider. They didn't trust him, as he seemed very wild and unpredictable to them. Often, Aragorn would take great journeys away from the other Rangers, serving in the armies of King Thengel of Rohan, and Steward Ecthelion II of Gondor. Many of the missions helped raise the moral in the West. The next several years Aragorn, under many names and disguises, lead many battles and gained a lot of valuable experience that would come in handy to him later on. After several years the battle-worn Aragorn visited Lórien and once more met Arwen where she pledged her hand to him and renounced her lineage by accepting the Gift of Men, death. However her father denied Aragorn her hand right away, saying that he had to earn the right to his daughters hand. Gandalf had given Aragorn proper warning that he might have to protect the Hobbits, because he might not be able to do it himself. It was a good thing he did, because they came into the Inn of the Prancing Pony persued by Ringwraiths, agents of the enemy who were neither living nor dead. After meeting the Hobbits in Bree, Aragorn accompanied them to the Council of Elrond, where the Fellowship of the Ring was forged. Nine members set out to carry out the important task of destroying the ring. But as with any adventure, many misadventures came. As well as many heartbreaks and hardships. While attempting to cross the cruel mountain Caradhras, the pass they needed to enter was closed so the party had no choice. They had to go through the mines of Moria. Only one in the party, Gimli the dwarf, was keen to this idea, the rest not at all. However it had to be done. It proved to be a disaster. While in Moria, Gandalf soon fell to the Balrog leaving Aragorn to take over the party. It was the Aragorn took them to the golden woods of Lothlorien, leading them to meet Galadriel. Here he was given the precious gift of the Elessar, an Elven stone of great worth that showed without any doubt he was destined to be the King that would unite all of Middle Earth. After their departure from the golden wood, Aragorn led them up the river in elven boats to the Falls of Rauros. It was here that the Fellowship began to break apart. Boromir fell to the power of one ring, Frodo and Sam snuck off toward Mordor, and Pippin and Merry were taken by Orcs. Aragorn, being the leader, was faced with a difficult choice. Either follow Sam and Frodo to Mordor or go off to save Merry and Pippin. Aragorn made a choice and ultimately the Fellowship was broken up. Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn, now called The Three Hunters, went off to save Pippin and Merry. Along the way they fell into many adventures, fought many battles, and ran many long miles. Aragorn then led them to Rohan where they soon met Eomer, nephew to the King of Rohan. It is here that Eomer told The Three Hunters that the Hobbits must be dead by now because the Orcs who had captured them were killed. The three did not believe him. Aragorn easily tracked them to the Forest of Fangorn. They had not been able to find the Hobbits however they did find Gandalf who had turned from Gandalf the Grey into Gandalf the White. The four of them returned to Rohan to help defend the forces of Saruman in the battle of Hornburg. They were successful, dealing a crippling blow to Sauron by taking out one of his most trusted allies. It was after the fight that Aragorn took Saruman's Palantir, and as the true King, Aragorn was able to bend it to his will and contacted Sauron. It was part of a plan to upset Sauron enough to attack Gondor before he was truly ready. If this was to be successful, he needed more fighters on his side, or Gondor would be crushed. His plan was to go to the Halls of Dead and gather fighters, that though dead, by prophecy had promised they would fight for the heir of Isildur. It was the night before they had planned to leave that once more their journey took a strange turn. As Aragorn awoke early in the morning to set off on this journey, he discovered Legolas, his companion of many months, was gone. He searched everywhere but there was no trace of the Elf anywhere. Scared something had happened, but bound by duty, Aragorn could not stop his mission. He could only hope the Elf was okay and vowed that this would not be done in vain. If the Elf had been killed or taken, he would get his revenge by defeating the enemy. Setting off to the Halls of the Dead with just himself and Gilmi, Aragorn was able to rally the fighters to his side, promising that they would be released into death if they fought beside him. They agreed to follow him, and they all set off once more. Battling pirates and defeating themm they sailed off in the ships of the very pirates who had been going to help Sauron. All the time however, his mind went back to Legolas and wondering what could have happened to the Elf. From the beginning, it seemed, his leadership had been doomed to fail. Now, he and the Dwarf were the only members of the Fellowship left together. Though there were still battles fought and won by Aragorn and the armies, Sauron was still too strong and Aragorn knew the only way that he would truly be defeated was to destroy the ring. Rallying the armies of Rohan and Gondor, Aragorn led them into battle once more. He led them right up to the black gates themselves. The plan was to distract Sauron so Frodo and Sam could slip past and destroy the ring. Aragorn knew that was the only way he could really help defeat the Dark Lord and end his reign of terror forever. It was here that Aragorn's life and this journey took an interesting twist. He was addressing the men, encouraging them and readying them for battle. Within the middle of his speech something strange happened. The scenery before him changed. The troops began to fade and everything went black. Aragorn began to feel faint, light headed. Everything but him and his horse faded away. The only thing Aragorn remembered was sliding off the horse and landing on soft ground before his eyes closed completely. He had no idea where he was or what had happened. Weaknesses:Though he is not one to show them, as it is not fitting of one who leadsmen,Aragorn does indeed have weaknesses. One of course is that he not always as sure of himself. Aragorn also often second guesses himself too many times. He is not sure he is fit to lead people. And often his concern and care for his friends can cloud his judgment leading him to lead with his heart and not his head. Strengths: Despite his doubts, Aragorn has proven to be a great leader. He is a skilled swords men and skilled with a bow as well. His gruff and grim attitude can often lead to people not liking him but they do respect him. Likes:Being outdoors, being with his friends, riding horses Dislikes:battles, losing and not finishing things Talents and Hobbies: Again he is skilled in swordsmanship, he also enjoys sitting under the stars and thinking. He also has a hidden fetish for singing, and is quite good at it. He can spin an excellent tale, when in the right mood. He is a skilled tracker and huntsman, from his time spent as a Ranger.
